Step 1: Access the photo you want to save. Open the message, document, or web page that contains the photos you want to save to your MacBook.
Not all websites allow you to save or download photos. For example, you cannot upload pictures from the Instagram website.
Step 2: Open the photo if needed. If the photo is in preview mode (such as Google search results), you'll need to first click the photo to view it in full size.
Some pictures - such as the one that is inserted in a post with a link to another page. If clicking the image opens an irrelevant page, click the browser's "Back" button to return to the original image.

Step 3: Place your Mac's mouse pointer over the image. The right mouse pointer is placed over the image you want to save.

Step 4: Open the right mouse menu. Hold the Control key, click the photo, and then release the Control key. You will see a menu displayed above or near the photo.
- You must hold the Control key while clicking, or the menu will not appear.
- On some MacBooks, you can click and hold the image so the menu appears on the window.
- You can also try "right-clicking" on an image by pressing the trackpad button with two fingers, or pressing the right side wall of the trackpad button on some MacBooks.
Step 5: Click Save Image to "Downloads" in the currently displayed menu. This will immediately download the photo to your Mac's "Downloads" folder - the folder usually named "Downloads"

- If you're not using the Safari browser, you can click Save Image As. Selecting this option will allow you to choose a name and a folder to save the image before downloading.
- You can open the "Downloads" folder by opening the Finder (the app with a blue face icon) and clicking Downloads on the left side of the window.
- If you changed your Mac's default "Downloads" folder to another folder (such as your "Desktop" folder), you'll see the image saved here.

Step 4: This will minimize the window so you can see your Mac's wallpaper.
Click and drag the photo onto the background image. Click and hold the picture with the mouse pointer, and then drag the picture outside the edge of the browser window until it hangs over the background.

You will see a transparent version of the image appear while you drag it.
Step 5: Release the mouse. When you see a white + in a green circle displayed on the photo thumbnail to be saved, release the mouse button. This will save the image in the background.
