London broil steak recipe with mushrooms

This restaurant cellar recipe uses a lean butt steak or “London broil” with a delicious and lean flavor. Another great option for this recipe is a 7-bone steak or a lean shoulder steak. It's a fatter part of the meat, but it will get very soft in a slow cooker. If you're looking for a steak that melts in your mouth, opt for an hour or two extra lean shoulder steak.
You can make this steak and sauce a complete meal by adding some vegetables to cook with beef. Add a cup or two of carrots and sliced celery to the pot, or add a few potatoes, cut into 2-inch pieces. Instead of tomato soup, add a can of cream of mushroom soup or golden mushroom soup.
Enjoy sliced steak with sauce and boiled or mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice. Add steamed cowpeas, broccoli, or your family's favorite veggies for a great dinner.

Note
Although the recipe is not required, pan-frying the beef can significantly improve the flavor and color of a dish. If you have time, season the beef and then fry it on medium high heat with about 1 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil.
If the sauce is too thin, strain the water and boil on the stove in a small saucepan. Reduce heat to medium and heat until the amount of liquid decreases and the flavor is concentrated.
